New Yamadori Just Arrived

Overwintering Bonsai Trees
Overwintering bonsai trees has become of great concern to many folk, particularly here in the U.K. As the weather becomes increasingly more turbulent and unpredictable we have all suffered increasing numbers of tree losses.
After more than 20 years of keeping bonsai I thought it would be of benefit to put my experiences together for those wishing to know more.

Bonsai Summer School
Last weekend Kaizen Bonsai in conjunction with Norfolk Bonsai Association ran the first of what will hopefully be regular bonsai classes.
Having spent nearly 15 years teaching bonsai around the world I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the conventional “workshop”. The kind of event where you bring a tree, get advice, get it wired and styled and go home.
So after much discussion with with the club committee we decided to run a formal full day class. In the morning I was teaching on scots pine development and ended with a practical session looking at participants trees. In the afternoon club chairman Graham taught a class on English oak coupled with practical demonstrations using participants trees.
We had a much larger participation than was expected and there was a very positive vibe in the room. The event was extremely well received by all. Many folk said the teaching cleared up a lot of mystery and long standing confusion they had on the subject and everyone left with a new level of enthusiasm and optimism regarding their bonsai.
Hopefully we can run more events in the near future, watch this space.

3000 Bonsai Trees!
We have just taken delivery of another shipment of fantastic bonsai trees. This shipment includes some fascinating new varieties not seen in the U.K before. This delivery brings our stock of bonsai to more than 3000 trees in pots. Exciting Progress @ Workshops
Kaizen Bonsai run regular weekend workshops. We focus on a progressive approach to developing bonsai, working hand in hand with our trees. Often my regular guys have to be patient, taking time is the magical ingredient in producing bonsai. However when the time is right we can take a great leap forwards. Last weekend we got to make significant progress on some very special trees. Rammon was on hand to assist and in spite of the atrocious weather we had a good day.
