I bought this big juniper from a friend in Italy. This is how it arrived at my workshop in spring 2006. The tree has been extensively worked and then left to settle.
Initial thoughts are that a great deal of the deadwood is very poorly worked, there is too much green in view of the amount of deadwood and the planting angle is wrong.

This 'sail' of deadwood can be stunning with some sensitive work. The potting soil is bad and the health of the tree is not good as a result.

The back of the tree as it arrived.

A full days work pruning out the foliage, doing basic 'repairs' and improvements to the deadwood and in spite of it being summer a re-pot with change of soil and position of the tree but no root pruning. Aftercare is important when doing this. Still several days of work to do......I love the way this tree seems to 'catch the wind'.
